Switch to the New Twitter Version

I have not switched to the New Twitter version and I don’t want to until the old version is still there running. I simply like the old version way better than the new one. Though I keep seeing this message on top of the every time I open Twitter on the web…

You’re using an older version of Twitter that won’t be around for much longer. Switch to New Twitter!

This message would often get me thinking if I should switch soon or just wait until Twitter takes out the old version and I would have no more choice right? In fact this message is meant by Twitter to urge their users to use the new version.

Twitter has used SurveyMonkey to ask their users (like me) why we have not switched to the new one. Most of the responses were:

  • I have to click an extra time to see my lists.
  • Sometimes I just see a white screen when I log in.
  • I don’t like change. Old Twitter is fine.
  • There’s too much stuff. It feels cluttered.
  • It hides my background.
  • I don’t like the 2 column layout.
  • I can’t find my Direct Messages.

I honestly liked the new version when I tried it out for a day a few months back. But I thought the old version is better and simpler so that is why until now I stuck with the old one and yes I agree I don’t like the 2 column layout and I cannot see the direct messages. I remember now, I didn’t even like the new Twitter app for Android in our Samsung Galaxy Tab yet I have no choice because there is no option to switch back to the old one unlike in the Twitter web version.
